Our original plan was to buy a 12-meter sailboat — big enough to live on comfortably for a long period of time, but not too large. Since this boat would become our home, we had a few must-haves. We wanted a U-shaped galley so we could cook safely at sea, a spacious cockpit to relax in — just the two of us or with friends — and three separate cabins so we could bring people along on our journey.
And then Farra crossed our path.
She was actually a bit on the large side and above our budget. But when we went for the viewing and stepped aboard, we instantly thought, “This is our boat.” It just felt right, and she ticked all our boxes. The galley wasn’t U-shaped, but thanks to the little bench behind the cooking area, we could still secure ourselves while cooking at sea.
- Year of construction: 1992
- Length: 13.90 m
- Beam: 4.30 m
- Depth: 2.40 m
- Mast height: 21 m
- Material: Polyester
- Sleeping cabins: 3 permanent
The boat has 3 sleeping cabins, two of which have large double beds, and the third cabin has a bunk bed. The 4th cabin is used as storage for our belongings. In the bow, there’s a shower with a washing machine, as well as a dry toilet. In the living area, you’ll find the kitchen and our dining table with a lounge bench. The table can be folded in half, which turns the area into an extra sleeping space — it can fit one person, or even two next to each other. Between the kitchen and the aft cabin, there’s a bathroom where you can also take a shower. Next to the other sleeping cabin at the back of the boat, there is the navigation table with all the equipment we need for sailing.
